The following is a letter from Tea Party Patriot, Ron Scearce to Congressman Robert Hurt in response to Hurts delusional and discouraging attitude during the meeting with the Tea Party in Danville last week…
With a heavy heart, I write this letter to Rep. Hurt in the hope that he will open his eyes and stop taking his marching orders from a GOP leadership that is obviously incapable or unwilling to get our big government spending under control. I just attended a meeting with the good Congressman and was left with a feeling of despair. We have a country that is over $14 TRILLION in debt, with a record debt of $233 billion being accumulated in the month of February alone, and all the good Congressman could do is tout the paltry $10 BILLION in spending cuts that the House leadership has “rammed” through with the last two continuing resolutions. While any cuts are welcome after the lack of leadership on this issue shown by President Obama and the Democrats for the past two years or so, we must do more.
We are in a crisis that I fear our nation will not survive. With some people continuing to ignore our runaway spending and allowing our fearless leader to make budget proposals that will double our current debt in ten years with nary a peep, it is imperative that Rep. Hurt follow the “reduce the size and cost of government” he emphasized throughout the past election cycle and his tenure as our Congressman. Does Mr. Hurt not realize that our nation is borrowing 40 cents for every dollar our government spends? Does he not understand we are reaching critical levels with our debt to the Gross Domestic Product which is currently topping 97%? Must we follow Greece and other European nations into insolvency before our leaders will wake up?
I can hear the question, why is this letter not directed to Senators Warner and Webb? In the first place, voting lockstep with the run-away spending of their leadership does not build a lot of confidence and in the second, they have not and continue to not listen. They both have done nothing to curb the growth of our big government and have completely ignored the calls and letters from their constituents. Perhaps, that is the reason Sen. Webb is not running again in 2012 where he would have to face a concerned electorate and defend his voting record. I guess it is just easier to run and hide.
You still have time Rep. Hurt, to become the warrior we need to not only battle President Obama and the Senate Democrats, but also the GOP leadership. If your leaders can’t even push the cuts required for the 2011 fiscal year budget, a budget that should have been passed by the 211th Congress, how in the world will they get anything accomplished when the debate on the 2012 fiscal year budget begins? We need a fighter that will stand tall against the politics as usual, not a yes man who will follow blindly. Know this, as I was there every step to help get you elected, I will have your back for all of the heat you might take if only you will defend the needs of your nation. As it stands now, I am already looking for a warrior to fill your shoes. Don’t let us down Mr. Hurt, because time is not on our side. “Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities… because it is the quality which guarantees all others.” Winston Churchill

I just don’t know why anyone is surprised that this is happening. We all knew Hurt’s record and strong party allegiance before he was elected, yet he was elected anyway, sent to Congress on a wish and a prayer AND with *tea party* leadership support. 2 years, people. 2 years.
Kudos to Ron Scearce Danville Tea Party Patriot from a lowly southern peon in the brainy and exalted NORTHERN city of Charlottesville,
Real citizens worked their butts off, spent their capital and did what was asked in what was an “open” and constitutional primary. This includes requests by radio pundits that NO TEA PARTY central organization is or wasneeded. ‘All we need to do is wear wigs, knickers and smoke 2 foot clay pipes and each individual’s afternoon pontification will take care of everything.’
What happened is the past primary convinced all good citizens NEVER to run for office because the RINO-Dimmocrat Party will just waltz in (they are organized) and buy the primary and election in the last three weeks leaving all the other candidates with their mouths agape.
Sic semper RINO Hurtis. And we are stuck with him like Dan Daniels for 30 miserable and stupid years.
Join the Shenandoah Valley Tea Party. They believe in doing rather than bloviating. And heck YES, lets organize. Lynchburg plus SVTP is a good structure from which to start.
A wise man once told me , “Nothing happens until you move your body.” Ignore the pundits and keyboard punchers. Lets organize a Tea Party that will never again crawl before the RINO Party.
I hear we’ll be seeing a new budget proposal by the GOP this coming month. Hopefully the Republicans can do something about ending the disgusting streak of CRs, even if it means a government shutdown. Some in leadership are willing to go that far if necessary.
Excellent letter. Regardless of what the situation was and is, this letter needs to be written and there needs to be follow through.
At the Dick Morris Rally on Pantops (where candidates were supposedly barred!) Hurt repeatedly told me why he could NOT do anything when elected…AND that he WOULD NOT TRY…but MIGHT vote for something that someone else put forward *mumble mumble mumble*. His constant mumbling words were ” Can’t ’cause”,” Can’t ’cause”,” Can’t ’cause”,” Can’t ’cause” until the immediate group listening were snickering or rolling their eyes in dismay.
A local radio pundit said “he sounded like a 3 year old when off his rehearsed script”.
Yet WE elected him.
Wait 2 years? For what? Danville Tea Party and the Lynchburg Tea Party, Fluvanna and South Boston area need to have a meeting now.

Only 16% Think Country Would Be Better Off If Most Incumbents in Congress Reelected – Rasmussen
Are the RINOs listening? Hurt listening?
No. That;s what I thought.
Just keep on buying those “Call and Thank Hurt” ads on pundit radeeoo…that will solve everything
Liaes, cowards and Crying Country Club Drunks.
Proof keeps rolling in.
Dump the RINOS and The Dimmocrats.
Budget Negotiators Reach Tentative Deal To Avert Government Shutdown
March 30, 2011 6:00 PM
“Sources tell me that budget negotiators on Capitol Hill have tentatively agreed on a deal that would involve at least $33 billion in spending cuts from this year’s budget. That’s $23 billion dollars more than Democrats have previously agreed to in short-term continuing resolutions, and $28 billion less than Republicans previously passed in the House.”
