Failure To Stand Against Homosexual Agenda

Virginia Christian Alliance Disappointed in Republican Leaders Failure
To Stand Against Homosexual Agenda

Yesterday, Virginia could have boldly led the way for states to uphold
their rightful sovereignty over the policies of the National Guard
rather than be forced to adhere to the overturning of 232 years of
American military policy with the repeal of the federal policy of
“Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” (DADT). Instead, the Virginia House of
Delegates Rules Committee, with the exception of two members, Del.
Lacy Putney (I-19) and Del. Joe Johnson, Jr. (D-4), voted to kill
HB2474, patroned by Delegate Bob Marshall (R-13). HB2474 would have
allowed Virginia’s National Guard to ban open homosexuals from serving
in the Guard, thus keeping the current policy in effect.

The Virginia Christian Alliance, and its constituency, is very
disappointed in the Republican leaders that sought to kill HB2474.
Delegate Bill Janis (R-56) led the way to defeat the bill, stating
that having the U.S. Army have a different policy from the National
Guard would create a logistics nightmare. Those in favor of this bill
believe that Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s opinion was interpreted
based on a perceived fear that was groundless and speculative that a
majority of Congressional Republicans, who overwhelmingly opposed the
repeal of DADT, would seek to defund Virginia’s National Guard if they
did not go along with the repeal of DADT.

Don Blake, Chairman of Virginia Christian Alliance (VCA) said,
“yesterday was a historic opportunity for Virginia to lead the Nation
as they did last year, under the leadership of Attorney General Ken
Cuccinelli and Delegate Bob Marshall, in the fight against the
unconstitutionality of Obamacare.” Blake went onto to say that he was
disappointed that the Republican leaders such as Governor Bob
McDonnell, Lieutenant Bill Bolling, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli
and House of Delegates Speaker Bill Howell and others did not show
more courage in taking on the Obama Administration’s homosexual
agenda.

VCA thanks Delegate Bob Marshall for showing the leadership for
presenting this bill and for standing up for conservative moral
principles when others would not. VCA would also like to thank the
former military leaders and constitutional attorney Herb Titas for
their testimony in support of HB2474 and Delegates Putney and Johnson,
Jr. for taking a stand against the homosexual agenda of President
Obama.
