Ken Cuccinelli, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul

Ken Cuccinelli, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul

What do Ken Cucinelli, Marco Rubio and Rand Paul have in common?

None of them had the support of the Republican establishment until after they won their primaries. In some cases, like that of Rand Paul, conservatives weren’t sure that the GOP would step up and support its own nominee.

Have you asked yourself why not?

These men are great, principled leaders.  Uncompromising in their values, but they don’t polarize people in their approach. They are smart, capable, successful, and excellent communicators. They are strong advocates for traditional American values. They each had tremendous tea party/grassroots support. They polled well among independent voters, too.

Yet, the Republican Party in each circumstance, was hoping a more “establishment/moderate” candidate would win the primary (or in Cucinnelli’s case, the Convention).

It’s rather strange, don’t you think?

Isn’t the Republican Party the party for conservatives?

Not always.  As conservatives know, the Republican Party has a history of backing liberal legislation or even liberal candidates (RINOS) in order to be “bipartisan”.

How has that worked for our nation?

Not very well.  In fact, it was the betrayal of conservative values by the Republican party, coupled with the even more outrageous spending of the Obama Administration that ignited the Tea Party Movement.

What if we had 100 more Ken Cuccinelli’s in Virginia? Can you imagine 100 Marco Rubio’s in the U.S.Senate?  Would you be able to sleep better at night, knowing that your children’s future was protected by people who loved the Constitution more than their personal power?

We need to develop 100 new principled conservative leaders NOW. Our country doesn’t have 10 more years to get this right. We have to do it now, staring in Virginia’s 2011 elections for the General Assembly.

The Tea Party movement needs to agressively support principled tea party candidates with money and volunteers.  Instead of relying on the Republican Party to give us the principled conservative candidates we seek, we need to create them ourselves.  Since we believe in personal responsibility, let’s think of taking charge of our nations political future it as being “politcally responsible”.

I feel that there are many good, principled candidates out there that would do very well both in elections, and more importantly as office holders.  But we can’t rely on the Republican Party to develop and promote those candidates. We need to do it ourselves. That means money, campaign support, and volunteers.

Am I talking about creating a third party? By no means! Historically, third parties fail miserably.  Even in the 2010 mid-terms elections with voter outrage so high, Independent candidates didn’t fare very well. Sure, the system is rigged for the two major parties, but rather than spend precious time and resources fighting that battle, let’s direct our energies into advancing conservative, tea party principles.

Richard Vigeurie, author of Conservatives Betrayed, calls it being a “third force” instead of a third party.  The candidates that are developed and promoted by the Virginia Tea Party Alliance will compete on the Republican ticket. (There may be a rare instance where it would be better to run as a conservative Democrat, or even as an Independent, but 99% of the time, the Virginia Tea Party Alliance will only endorse and support those candidates who choose to run as Republicans).

Can you help? We have a fundraising goal of $10,000 by 12/31 at Midnight.  That will help us get the word out about the Virginia Tea Party Alliance, and begin identifying and training candidates for the 2011 state wide elections.
