would be interested to know what those in RH’s old state Senate district think of Bill Stanley. and would also like to know what 5th District Republicans think of him, too.
I’ve never met him so I have no opinion.
Kelley, I was a HUGE supporter of Robert Hurt from the very beginning and I truly like Bill Stanley. He’s conservative, highly intelligent, is a great public speaker, has great people skills and he was one of the attorneys for Paula Jones in her lawsuit against Bill Clinton. He would be a true asset to the state Senate.
Bill Stanley do you plan on being a State senator, the 5th district chairman, and run a law office all at the same time ?
I am grateful to see that Bill Stanley will be running for Senate seat 19. Fantastic… the leadership that Bill has demonstrated in the 5th District should be multiplied, packaged and sold. It is worth every penny someone would spend.
Kelley,
It will be interesting to see how the people who elected Robert Hurt to the State Senate feel about Bill Stanley’s failure to support Robert Hurt in the primary.
I should hope that the fact he succeeded in getting him elected AFTER the primary would suffice. While Bill may need the establishment’s useful idiots they will need to decide if they will get behind him like he got behind Robert. So far their track record SUCKS!
thanks for the opinions. My state Senator is Frank Ruff, so I’m just looking at this from a political junkie perspective. not as a voter.
Watch Dog im sure Bill Stanley would make a great State Senator. He has done a fine job as chairman of the 5th district and I also hear he is a excellent lawyer but do you think he would be able to do all three jobs ?
It’s a valid question.
He has a law partner who is also a good attorney so they will be able to share the load. I dont know how you can say he didnt support Robert in the primary, he was elected 5th district chairman in the middle of the primary and could not really publicly support one candidate or another.
It would indeed be quite absurd to fault Stanley for not supporting Hurt in the primary. For one thing, it would have been considered quite improper for a man in his position to support any of the candidates publicly and he did not, wisely. Secondly, more than half of the primary voters in the 5th did not support Hurt in the primary. If a party leader provides outstanding leadership after the primary, bringing together all sides after a contentious and sometimes bitter campaign, directly benefiting the nominee, no one can ask for more. Any one who supported Robert Hurt against Tom Perriello owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to Bill Stanley for his leadership. What a switch we’ve seen in the 5th in two short years!
Nate things have gotten better in the 5th but we still have problems here.Like we have people, a Vice Chairman zone two Tim Boyer (maybe you know him)that doesn’t think enough of his position to even show up at 5th district meetings. How pathetic. If he didn’t plan on doing the job with did he even apply ? Maybe he just wanted a title ?
Will -
I do not know Tim very well, and thus am not here to defend nor attack him. I do know Nate, however, and he has done a great job in Bedford since May, and will continue to be an asset to our GOP committee here.
To your point, though – I would ask the same question regarding Stanley. Was he merely seeking to reduce the 5th District chair position to a stepping stone to bigger and (presumably) better things? Lest we forget, he was running for RPV chair less than 18 months ago. When he announced his intentions to seek the 5th District slot, one of his promises was that he would not use the position as a springboard. And I still have the flyer, if any Doubting Thomases (or Kurts) want to cry “conspiracy theory.” (Funny how it’s always a “conspiracy” if it doesn’t fit your version of facts, no matter how much evidence there is to back it up.)
We see how quickly THAT promise went out the window. In light of that, I wonder how eager we should be to trust any of Bill’s other promises?
Bradley im not attacking anyone.I just gave pure facts.
Will-
Sorry, I never said you were attacking Tim, but upon reviewing my comment, I realize it could be seen as implying that. My apologies if you took it that way. Completely unintended, I assure you.
I wonder who Robert Hurt will endorse to replace him.
