Over the past 5 weeks, Tom Perriello has killed a lot of trees.
Technically it was the Democratic Party of VA but who do they think they are kidding?
Of the 5 pieces of literature, I have received three of them promoting Jeff Clark as the “conservative” and “Tea Party” candidate.
Tom and his crony friends at the DPVA know that most independent voters are not going to break for him. Therefore they are trying to get those voters to throw their support behind a lost cause and commit political hari kari. This will suit the John Galt crowd just fine and it just may work. I just disagree that America is so far gone that we should just dig our fox hole or move to Galt’s Gulch.
Jeff Clark has admitted that he doesn’t like Robert Hurt. He knows, as do his supporters, that he is only in this race to play the spoiler. His website is called “Crash Their Party” after all. But, I have not received ONE piece of literature or received one phone call from Jeff Clark or his “campaign”. I have received lots from Tommie the Commie, none of which gives me any reasons to vote for Tom Perriello but all attempt to paint Robert Hurt as a moderate.(something I refuted here a while back)
Many have claimed that Jeff is a Democrat plant. That he is working for Tom Perriello. I think that’s nuts.
However, It may as well be true because the effect is the same.
One of the most outrageous mistakes Tom and Friends have made in these pieces, is to say that Jeff Clark is a “member of the Lynchburg Tea Party”
As the Vice Chair of the Lynchburg Tea Party I can assure you that Jeff Clark is NOT a member.
I like how they phrased our views as : “calls for Radical elimination of government spending and intervention in our lives and a citizen takeover of national government”
Sounds like a fantastic plan. It’s even more radical than we have it worded at our website.
Maybe we’ll change it.
I hope the voters in the 5th are not this stupid. I say this in a statistical and clinical sense.
Want proof? Just look back to the primary when only 8% showed up to vote. Also, we have gone door to door and are still meeting people that don’t know an election is coming up. YIKES!
Jeff Clark needs to stand up and clearly repudiate what Tom Perriello and his jerk friends are doing at the Democratic Party of Virginia.
Kurt Feigel
More Proof:

today is 24Hours with Tom Day. He is going full bore from midnight Sunday//Monday til this evening’s debate with Jeff Clark. Does Tom think he even needs to be rested to debate Jeff Clark? there does not seem to be any time built in for a shower or any other prep before this debate.
if I were Jeff Clark, I’d be sort of insulted.
I wish Jeff Clark would stand up at this debate & say what we all know to be true: “Perriello, you are a left winger who does not represent the voters of the 5th”. (rather than just bash Hurt).
Now after these mailers are going out trying to dupe people into voting Clark instead of Hurt I am quite certain he is a Democrat hiding in plain sight. If he were not he would bow out and support Hurt. If he is not a democrat, and he is not going to bow out, then he is something much worse… an idiot or living in a delusion.
We all know Parriello is a liar, but shame on Jeff Clark for making this option available for him. If he is not a plant he might as well be, his only purpose in this race now is to keep Parriello in power. To that I say, what a jerk!
Jeff.. I liked you when I met you in person at the last tax day tea party.. but I gotta say, you need to leave this race, or intelligent people like me are never going to vote you into any elected position. I would now question your competence for positions like school board member, and crossing guard. Stop making an ass of yourself and give it a rest already!
Who started this “Jeff’s a Democrat” rumor? What a pile of crap. He’s been involved in the Danville Tea Party since November. I can personally attest to that.
Putting Hurt in Congress is not going to fix ths country, republicans winning control isn’t going to fix country, and kicking out people who’ve done more than their fair share in our movement DAMN sure isn’t going to fix our country.
We need to vote for the person who won’t play politics as usual and shake things up.
If you believe that’s Hurt then fine but don’t start screaming when the Republicans go back on every single campaign pledge they’ve made.
“If he is not a democrat, and he is not going to bow out, then he is something much worse… an idiot or living in a delusion.”
I agree with Watchdog that there is no way that Jeff Clark is a democratic plant … I also agree with Aaron Mills conclusion: he’s a nut job. I’d have him committed if it didn’t require paying to care of him with taxpayer dollars.
Lets be honest and not look at this from the pragmatic point of view that I think the watchdog has come to adopt. Prior to the primary we all called Hurt out for what he was a, moderate establishment shill. Even Jim McKelvey has flip flopped on his opinion of Mr. Hurt… but why? Is it because you’d rather have someone that says he believes in what we stand for, even though you KNOW he’s not likely to follow through or is it because you are still stuck in the false left/right paradigm? Wake up, by voting for Clark(especially with the knowledge that he isn’t likely to win) you send a CLEAR message to the establishment, your lies and puppet candidates are no longer wanted here.
What exactly has Clark done for your movement? What exactly has your movement effectively done in the local area?
Lets see your movement spawned a carnival act of self appointed 5th district saviors to come to the rescue, and the sum effect was giving the local republican nomination to a career politican! No one could come together, or join forces, but instead defeated each other resulting in a zero-sum game. Everyone lost because no one could see the writing staring them in the face.. all ego and no sacrifice.
Has the local tea party learned from its mistake? No there is another carnival crusader who has not given up and is running a race that can not be won, instead of brokering a deal with Hurt to keep him honest, he openly criticizes hurt to the point that even Tom’s people think its a good idea.. such a good idea they spend money to send out mailers promoting Clark in order to steal votes from Hurt!!!!
If Parriello’s camp can figure out that Clark is a bad thing for Hurt… why can’t everyone else?
So the other argument is “we will stand on our principles and vote for a sure loser because we will not budge. Hurt won’t be any different than Parriello.” Before you make your high and mighty vote keep in mind that your principles have no value to Tom Parriello because he thinks they are quaint and hickish. The enemy of your enemy is your friend.. at the very least Hurt is going to be more open to conservative principles as shown by his voting record.
Right now I don’t think even hurt is going to take the Tea Party very seriously as a threat for replacing him because the movement didn’t come close to keeping him from the nomination, and never did.
So what real effect can the tea party have here in the 5th? What good can it actually do?
1. It is creating more awareness as shown by its publicity and the fact that people are hitting the streets to campaign. That is probably the most impressive thing I have seen yet..
2. The tea party needs to elect Robert Hurt and then watch him like a hawk. At least then you are a larger interest, because right now the tea party has amounted to a group who could not produce a winning candidate and who won’t give up an independent race even though it can not be won.
Finally, local conservatives need a win. They need to know that we have taken even one single step toward having a free nation again. People are not going to fight this battle forever. People are going to stand up as long as its comfortable for them, and if you want to keep them going moral has got to get a boost. Hurt is that win. Even if he is not perfect, or even if you disagree with him 50% of the time.. if you also happen to disagree with Parriello 100% of the time, Hurt should be your man.
Is electing hurt going to change our nation and right all the wrongs? Of course not!! Is Hurt the right candidate for the next election? Who is to say.. but for right now he is the only choice for a conservative victory in the 5th.
One small step at a time. None of this is going to happen tomorrow, but if we re-elect a jerk like Parriello because a self important candidate wanted to stand on his principles.. I am packing up my guns and moving to Texas.
yeah, Jeff Clark is getting used here.
Just Remember Virgil Goode only lost by 727 votes.
Article at News & Advance regarding the “debate” between Clark and Perriwinkle tonight in Danville:
Clark criticized Robert Hurt for opposing the healthcare bill when Hurt has not read the bill first, implying that it is wrong for a person to oppose a bill before reading the bill in its entirety.
Clark may as well have been criticizing practically the entire Tea Party movement. I doubt even one percent of those in the Tea Party movement have read the bill, and even less have understood it. Clark claims he read the bill (which I doubt), but this does not mean he understands it. The same for Tommy. Yet the Tea Party in its entirety opposes the bill. Who are you criticizing, Mr. Clark?
There have been so many surprises that have surfaced AFTER passage of the bill, that it is incredulous that any person would believe that any of the congressman or senators read the bill in its entirety before voting for it. But Clark, the dupe that he is, believes Perriello when Perriello states he read the bill before voting for it.
This shows once again that Perriello is a LSS and that Clark is drunk off the Kool-Aid which Perriello has used to nurse Clark’s campaign.
Perhaps Mssrs. Clark and Perriello can explain to the Tea Party crowd why it is they think common sense would not dictate that any Constitution-loving person would be against the bill when, without reading it, we already know the bill forces once-free Americans to purchase a healthcare product or face severe financial penalties.
This aspect of the bill was touted by Perriello and Obama before the bill was ever voted on – it has been part of the socialist healthcare take-over plan since the days of the Bill Clinton Occupancy and HillaryCare. This single aspect of the bill makes it manifestly unconstitutional, as it is such a broad over-stretch of the Commerce Clause that even socialists like Perrilosi cannot say it is constitutional – he only says to “let the courts figure it out.” This alone is enough to support its entire repeal.
Tommy is a lawyer. He is no idiot. He knows this bill takes the federal government into unchartered waters – and leads our society off the constitutional cliff into the troubled waters of the socialist welfare state. Tommy’s and Barry’s and Nancy’s and Harry’s hope is that one of the conservatives on the Supreme Court will die before the healthcare litigation reaches that Court. Then Barry can put a fellow-socialist on the bench and secure approval of the healthcare bill. Time and delay are on their side.
Clark is no idiot, either. His “debates” with Perriello have served to bolster, not Clark, but Perriello, in the fawning eyes of those attending the events. Clark must know this. Yet, he continues, to debate and to stay in this race. Flower? Garden stock? Crop? Herb? Vegetable? Or weed?
No person need read the bill to legitimately oppose the bill. Hurt has taken the correct stand that the bill needs to be opposed full force from the start of the next Congress. Here’s to the sincere hope that Robert Hurt will be part of the Republican majority that does just that.
For any of you still enchanted with casting a “principled” vote for Clark , his positive words about the healthcare bill should dispel any notions in your head that Clark would be a principled person in Washington – he is already, after a few “sessions” with his buddy Tom, altering his previous positions on the healthcare bill.
By the way, Mike McPadden, Jim McKelvey, and Feda Morton have all released statements the last few days reiterating their support for Robert Hurt. I know many of you supported McPadden and McKelvey in the primary. Some of you are now disenchanted with McKelvey. But none of you can legitimately call Mike McPadden unprincipled. His endorsement of Hurt is perhaps something you should contemplate before November 2.
Voters of the 5th – the call is yours. Just be sure you look in the children’s eyes before casting that vote. Think of the heritage of liberty passed to you by the previous generation, and know that a vote to continue this nation on the socialist slide to tyranny will deprive your children of the heritage of liberty they deserve from you.
It is your duty to ‘secure the blessings of LIBERTY to [y]ourselves and [y]our posterity.’ A vote to continue the Obama agenda will be one more nail in the coffin of American Liberty at which the progressives/socialists have been hammering away for more than a century.
The time to stop them is now. I pray to God the rise of the Tea Party movement in this country is the rise of an almost dead corpse of enlivened Patriots heeding the call of our ancestors to “scorn to be slaves.” I pray to God this corpse is alive once again, ready to sacrifice and suffer for the cause, and that it is not just one more gasp before finally settling into the casket for a breathless and eternal sleep. For it is as Reagan said: America represents the last best hope for freedom in the world; and if it dies here, it will have died for all humanity.
Do not be deceived: The progressives/socialists truly desire to transform America into something never envisioned by the Founders. And they formed a government that has led to relative peace and prosperity unlike that ever seen in the world. The Obamaites desire to alter, to transform, that government, and in turn, our society. And a vote for Clark will do nothing but further that goal.
Pandercrat strategists have reportedly stated that they would be sponsoring Tea Bag candidates as spoilers.
Heard today that campaign spending in our little 5th District ranks SEVENTH in the nation (amazing enough), with the President himself scheduled for a personal whistlestop in C’ville to put in a word for TP.
Willing to bet there’s quite a lot of Soros $$$ on this race.
bw strauss: I heard that 5th District was #2 in outside money behind a district in Michigan. Not surprising really since this isn’t an affluent district like NoVa or Tidewater or even Richmond.
yep, alot of Soros money & SEIU money.
but Perriello says the evil Chamber of Commerce is sending foreign money down here to help Robert Hurt. Tom, is that the same evil Chamber of Commerce that sponsors the Lunenburg Co. Christmas parade?
Better yet, is that the same Chamber of Commerce Perriello bragged at the Captian D’s frown hall was “a big supporter” of the healthscare bill?
Perriello has used deceit, obfuscation, and outright lies to try to win this election. Typical Alinskyite tactics – anything to win.
TSoaBOtbSBtEaLotSotRftBtE.
i might “be” Tom Perriello for Halloween—unencumbered by the truth. Therefore, I will be 29 years old, size 6, brilliant & knock-dead gorgeous. and oh yeah, filthy rich.
I’m willing to bet there’s a lot of Santoy & Holdco money in this race, as well.
In my opinion, 3 of the 5th District Tea Party groups are suffering from the political equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome. Disgusting.
As an aside, the featured video on this site constitutes at least libel, if not outright slander, against Jeff Clark. I’d be careful about promoting it.
anyone got a comment on Jeff Clark mailers that have NO disclaimer? FEC no-no.
It’s their national strategy:
http://www.resistnet.com/forum/topic/show?id=2600775:Topic:2869656&xgs=1&xg_source=msg_share_topic
With just six days left until Election Day, a key component of the Democratic strategy to hold the House is becoming clear: In more than a dozen close races, Democrats are encouraging and advancing little-known, conservative third-party
candidates in an attempt to fracture the Republican vote enough to eke out narrow victories.
Behind-the-scenes collaboration between local Democratic officials and tea party activists in a handful of isolated races has already been
reported — just last week, in suburban Pennsylvania’s open 7th District,
Democratic nominee Bryan Lentz
finally admitted his campaign’s role in helping a tea party candidate
get on the November ballot after months of avoiding the question.
But the divide-and-conquer strategy has become more widespread — and coordinated — through television ads, robocalls and mailers in recent
weeks as races have tightened and it’s become more apparent that just a
few percentage points could end up swinging the outcome in many races.
“It wouldn’t be the first time that Democrats or Republicans have tried to manipulate votes on the other side. Clearly the goal there is to get
Republicans to vote for the tea party person
to move numbers off Republicans,” said John Anzalone, an Alabama-based
Democratic pollster. “I think that it’s going to work in some places.
It’s a case by case” thing.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and two state Democratic parties have paid for mailers sent to GOP
households in at least five contested House districts in Colorado,
Florida, Michigan and Texas — mail pieces that highlight the staunchly
conservative positions of long-shot candidates who barely register in
public and private polls.
Here we go again. More evidence of political Stockholm Syndrome.
Republicans nationwide adopted the ostrich strategy very early on, pretending that their races included only two candidates, and running Forrest Gump-style away from the prospect of allowing 3rd party “longshots” into debates. As with Gump, all the running has now backfired, and the Democrats have latched onto the simple notion of having an informed electorate. (Funny, that USED to be what conservatives stood for, until they took up the progressive dark arts of trying to elbow opposing views out of the way.)
But the Democrats are evil for pointing out the fact that there are alternatives, while the Republican speech-stiflers have done nothing wrong. I said, 4 months ago, that this would backfire on the GOP. They could have defused this time bomb long ago by simply engaging in open and honest debate. You know, that quaint old idea the Founders had about “trusting the people” to make the right decision on the “battlefield of ideas.”
As the old saw goes: You built the in-ground pool and decided to dive into it headfirst, without the water. So don’t get pissed at me for not wanting to buy it from you with your bloodstains on the cement at the bottom. Oh, and something about fleas.
What a priceless and juicy bit of irony. And yet another tally mark on my “I told you so” board.
“the Democrats have latched onto the simple notion of having an informed electorate.”
So can I suppose you’ll be voting for the Democrats?
Funny how I don’t remember them being so enthusiastic about “having an informed electorate” when the third party candidate was Ralph Nader or Barry Commoner…
Or can we more reasonably guess that Democrats have no intention of seeing anyone but Perriello elected, and have latched onto the simple notion of splitting their opponents vote?
mr rees, someone sent out mailers benefitting the candidacy of Jeff Clark with no disclaimer. will this make a difference on Tuesday? probably not. is this a FEC violation. yep.
this is separate & apart from any ideological issue.

I really don’t give half a rip WHAT the Dems’ strategy is here. I will be voting for Jeff Clark (along with a much larger chunk of the 5th district populace than you may be comfortable with) because he is a man of principle. I find it disheartening that so many of those who staunchly oppose Jeff even being IN this race haven’t even bothered to avail themselves of the dozens of hours he has spent on my shows and many others, laying out his principles and core philosophy clearly an without hesitation (or that adorable little trademarked Hurt stutter).
For a quick frame of reference, read the insightful piece by Shaun Kenney here: http://bearingdrift.com/2010/10/17/the-offer-hurt-absolutely-cannot-refuse/comment-page-1/ …and read the nasty comments from Hurt supporters. And, once again, I rest my case that the MAIN problem in politics today is not the letters behind the names, but the arrogance and utter contempt for us “little people” in their hearts. Hurt’s refusal to debate Clark (and show up for half of the Tea Party debates in the primary) is enough proof for me of HIS arrogance and contempt. That’s not the way to earn my respect or trust, much less my vote.
and I really don’t give half a rip WHAT Jeff Clark has for us “little people” in his heart — OR of the the dozens of hours he has spent on your show, his principles and core philosophy — since he is NOT GOING TO BE ELECTED!
In my view, the MAIN problem in politics THIS season, is stopping the agenda of a president and a party that will weaken us internationally and destroy our economy.

Ah, yes! Even MORE delicious irony! See the seething righteous TeaParty indignation over FEC violations! How DARE those wascawwy Democwats! Well, I happen to concur. Whoever is responsible for these mailers should be prosecuted and given the appropriate legal penalty (which, in this case, amounts to a fine of roughly TEN times the one I paid for my EVIL and dastardly gun charge).
Funny how the same TeaParty folks (unbiased “Watchdogs,” don’t ya know?) breathed a collective “Ho-hum” over the document dump at the Daily Progress a couple of months back, even after it was revealed that those documents on Jeff Clark included his Social Security number (as well as the SSN of at least two OTHER “Jeffrey Clark”s) and portions of his wife’s medical records. The release of said information is in direct violation of at least 4 Federal laws, the penalties of which add up to a few years in PRISON, not just an FEC fine.
Is this mailer a violation of the law? Absolutely. But, given the severity of the respective penalties, which should we be more upset over?
This TeaParty hypocrisy would be laughable, if it weren’t such a blatant double standard proving, once again, whose Kool-Aid they have drunk themselves full of.
