Thank You!
Moneta, VA – To my fellow conservatives, I want to thank you!
During this campaign I have had the privilege of meeting so many great fifth district Virginians. And, I have  learned so many things as I have toured the district in our campaign bus .  It is clear that the citizens of our area are looking for a strong constitutional conservative leader that will share our values. I am so very grateful for all the encouragement and support that they have given me.

Tonight, Robert Hurt was elected to be the Republican Candidate for Congress in the Fifth District.  I congratulate him on his victory.
I will not abandon all those who shared their hopes and ideals with me during  the campaign.  In the coming days, I will be forming a political action committee to bring together all those who share the same ideals as me of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and who will fight for a return to the essential foundations of our Republic as established by our Founding Fathers.
From this moment forward, we must be steadfast in ensuring that our conservative values matter, that our country  and its future is at stake, and that, as Thomas Jefferson once said, “vigilance is the eternal price of liberty.”  Let us all unite behind our firm belief that if we do not act now, we will only be at fault for the failure of this great Republic.
I am extremely grateful to those who cast their ballot for me today.  I am honored and humbled by the confidence that you placed in me. And for those who voted for Robert Hurt and others, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to seek your vote. This has been one of the most exhilarating and rewarding experiences of my life.
Now, I will return back to my home, and I will continue to facilitate and protect small business, and will endeavor to further our social and fiscally conservative agenda, in my county, in our district, and in our great commonwealth.
We, as conservatives, must be unified to defeat Tom Perriello this November.  And, we must do this now.
I want to thank you, my fellow conservatives, for the incredible experience that was my campaign. I have driven my campaign  bus throughout every county and city in this district, and it was an experience that I will never, ever forget.  I look forward to working with you to ensure victory for our future conservative candidates in the fifth district, and to advance our conservative principles and traditional values both now, and in the future.
This was only a battle tonight, but the war for the future of our Republic continues.  Let us not forget the battle we waged tonight, and the battle that we shall wage in the near future.
Yours in liberty,

Jim McKelvey

I think Jim has a real future in helping Va’s conservative cause.

Very nice speech and thoughts! Very graceful! Jim, please just don’t be the reason or stimulus that the SOCIALIST and ANTI-free- enterprise Perriello is returned to office. You and the other Republicans that ran against Hurt have had your chance to rally the 5th’s conservatives against those two evils!

Unfortunately, the majority of those same conservatives choose Hurt for now to lead the fight! Support them in the same cause you have been so outspoken in…………….defeat Perriello by electing Hurt!

VvaPatriot. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves with the revisionist history. “The majority of those same conservative voters…” You mean the majority of the 8% that voted.

Mr. McKelvey was a class act. He spent his own money to run, and was the ONLY candidate to refuse pay or benefits for his service, if elected.

The man is as genuine as they come. It is a shame that we were not able to prevail over the RNC’s hand-picked candidate, but Robert Hurt knows that we were there. And he will have to court us McKelvey supporters to get our support.

As much as I want to see Madame Pelosi fired as Speaker, Robert Hurt will have to declare his solid support for the Constitution before he gets my vote. If he “gets right” with the Tea Party, then I will support him, but I have no enthusiasm for another establishment GOP soldier.

I want a representative who represents ME!

sam adams: you go! RH will get “right” with you just as he would if you didn’t have the TEA party label. you are the conservative independent voter & he needs your help. Robert Hurt will keep faith with you.

it was the TEA party who caught Perriello on tape making the statement that if you don’t tie our hands “we’ll keep stealing”. It is the TEA party that has written the best TV ad (maybe for each Congressional race in the country!!)

we are all in this together.

Watch Dog- Great comment, “the majority of the 8% that voted.”

The apathy of the voters is stunning. Out of 442,824 voters, only 35,295 voted. 7.97%. On the May 17 poll, there were 48% undecided. How can you be undecided if you have been keeping up even only a little with the candidates for something like 5 months? I wonder what the outcome of this primary would have been had even some of those 92% that didn’t vote, would have exercised their civic duty, and voted. They are usually the loudest screamers about those dang politicians.

Good luck to you Mr. McKelvey, and congratulations on coming in with a second place finish. Wish you would have won. Now it will be between Hurt and Clark. And, anyone who chooses to just ignore or overlook Clark will have a big surprise coming.
